Founding of the Maybach motor car company
Maybach's full name is Mayback-Motorenbau GmbH. This company is German and is a manufacturer of luxury cars.
Maybach was founded by Wilhelm Maybach with his son Karl Maybach as company director in 1909. Maybach was originally a division of Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH. Until 1912, Maybach was known by the name of Luftahrzeug-Motorenbau GmbH. Maybach is now a division of Daimler AG, the cars produced are very expensive and provide ultimate luxury. Their are talks of the Maybach brand ceasing production in 2013.

History of Maybach motor car company
Though founded in 1909, Maybach did not produce their first car until 1919, and even then it was a experimental car, with the first production model introduced 2 years later at the Berlin Motor Show. Maybach produced a few classic cars between 1921 and 1940, when WW2 broke out the company built engines for self propelled guns and tanks. After the war, car production never re-started and 20 years later the company was renamed MTU Friedrichshafen.

Mercedes Benz, at the Tokyo Motor show presented a concept luxury car named the Mercedes Benz Maybach. After the concept presentation, Mercedes Benz decided to develop the car and also decided to market the car under the brand name Maybach in 2000. The new models that they introduced were named the Maybach 57 and Maybach 62. The significance of the numbers is that they relate to vehicle length in decimetres. Despite best efforts, sales were not as high as the company had hoped for and so in 2011, Daimler announced that the Maybach brand would cease production in 2013. Maybach cars not only provide luxury and class, they are also very powerful with impressive acceleration despite the weight of the cars.
